Rio's Brazilian hired Luis Eduardo da Silva, founder of Dudu Designer in Santa Caterina, Brazil to give our logo a fresh look. He's taken our "Sambista," Brazilian samba dancer, to the next level and given our name a much bigger presence with the word "Brazilian." We're very excited about the new direction our logo has taken.
Luis Eduardo also designed our three new Cheese Bread labels and our t-shirts, coming to a Farmers' Market near you!
Visit our (in-process) newly-refurbished Web site (http://www.HowDoYouRio.com), and see more of Dudu Designer designs at http://www.dududesigner.com/
OLD Logo NEW Logo

We're proud to announce two new retailers of Rio's Brazilian products.
Spec's Liquors of Austin has included Rio's all-natural Malagueta sauces in their offerings. You can find Rio's in the refrigerated case at both the Arbor Walk store and the Brodie Lane store. Join us at their AWESOME wine tastings where you can sample our cheese bread, our sauces, and some amazing wines and other local gourmet foods. Visit http://www.specsonline.com/cgi-bin/snf?body=/cgi-bin/locate for directions.
Bill and Beth Thom, owners of Thom's Market, have added Rio's Brazilian salads and sauces to their excellent local fare. They stock our fresh fruits and vegetable salads, such as the Flamengo (a mix of butter beans, jackfruit, hearts-of-palm and more) and the Botafogo (a mix of garbanzo beans, artichoke, pear, apple, spinach and more). They also carry our three Malagueta sauces. Thom's Market is located just just west of S. Lamar on Barton Springs Rd. Learn more at: http://thomsmarket.com/reviews.html
Our all-natural, gluten-free, and sugar-free cheese bread is now available in stores! Rio's Brazilian Pao de Queijo comes in a package of frozen rolls that go straight from the freezer to the oven. No need to rise or thaw, our bread cooks up golden brown in about twenty minutes.
Currently you can find our cheese bread in the frozen section at Whip-In (http://www.whipin.com/) and the new Royal Blue Grocery, just across from Mellow Johnny's at the corner of Nueces and West 4th Streets.
Shortly we hope to have the bread also available at both Spec's Liquors that currently carry our sauces.
Keep a look out for two new versions, coming very soon: Basil and Roasted Red Pepper. Delicious!!!
Over the past few months, Rio's Brazilian has proudly supported local causes such as:
- The Rude Mechanicals’ Oyster Club — a project dedicated to sharing not only Austin’s live culture, but the urbane shellfish that inspired it. (http://www.theoysterclub.com/site/)
- Latinitas, a non-profit organization focused on informing, entertaining, and inspiring young Latinas to grow into healthy, confident, and successful Latinas. (http://latinitasmagazine.org/index.php)
- The Brazil Center in it's collaboration with Cine Las Americas (CLA) as they promoted Brazilian film in the 12th Cine Las Americas International Film Festival.
- Austin Pride, a benefit for this year's Gay and Lesbian Pride Festival. (http://www.austinpride.org/)
- Habitat for Humanity, at their HYP Gala 2009. (http://austinhyp.org/)
- Les Dames d' Escoffier, an organization of women leaders in food, beverage and hospitality whose mission is education, advocacy and philanthropy. (http://www.ldei.org/)
- The Austin Theater Alliance and the Paramount Theater at their 73rd Gala. (http://www.austintheatre.org)
Rio's Brazilian proudly became a member of the Austin Farmers' Market Task Force.
Not just advocating for fellow members, the Task Force took four "thank-you baskets" filled with local vegetables and products such as ours, to members of the state legislature that supported bills that would help all members.
For example, we thanked Representative Nelson for his support of a bill that would create a winery festival permit to allow wine to be sold at farmers’ markets.
Now all we need is caipirinha and it'll truly be Carnaval!!!
Please join us at The Vintage Lounge as we host some amazing entertainers.
We're fortunate to have Paul Sonnenberg's Bossa Nova Trio playing here regularly, including on June 12 and June 26. We'll also have a lovely Brazilian/American singer named Monica de Silva playing her at Vintage, also on June 12.
Keep your eyes peeled for more shows such as Brooke Aved, Show Me Tiger and Piano Dora.
Rio's Brazilian is also participating in the Pachanga Festival and the Gay and Lesbian Pride Festival. Hope to see ya'll there!
Elias and I want to thank our customers, supporters, friends and family members for helping us reach our 2nd anniversary this past September.
We couldn't have come this far without the belief you have in us and our food. Muito obrigado! (Thank you so much!!!)
We're proud to announce that our three all-natural Brazilian Malagueta sauces are now available at Whole Foods Market on 6th & Lamar.
Rio's Original, Mango, and Pineapple Coconut Malagueta sauces are in the refrigerated case next to the all-natural hummus, back by the round coffee station. (Photos here: http://blog.riosofaustin.com)
We've been doing demo sessions of our sauces, so keep an eye open for our table the next time you're there. Please stop by and say "hello!"

We've added lots of Malagueta recipe ideas to our Web site including Melissa's original Malagueta crock-pot chicken and Kim's spicy salmon patty salad!
We're also proud to feature recipes by Laura Stewart, one of Austin's rising culinary voices. Laura lent her unique gastronimic perspective to create amazing recipes such as:
- Rio's Malagueta Martini;
- Cumin Chicken with Banana-Mango Malagueta Salsa; and
- Beef Skewers with Pineapple Coconut Malagueta Raita fusion.
Recipes can be found here: http://www.riosofaustin.com/recipes.htm
Share your recipe ideas with us! Either send an e-mail to rios@riosofaustin.com or use this form (http://www.riosofaustin.com/RiosMenu.pdf) and tell us: How Do You Rio?
We're so fortunate to have the support of these local retailers.
Royal Blue Grocery - www.royalbluegrocery.com
Royal Blue Grocery continues to support Rio's by featuring our two salads, the Copa & the Leblon, as well as some of our savory pastries in the cold case by the register. The staff there is amazing and George Scariano has been a huge source of encouragement and insight.
We're proud to say that we'll also be a part of Royal Blue Grocery's second store coming soon to the 360 building, facing Lance Armstrong's new bike shop, Mellow Johnny's at 4th & Nueces.
Greenling - www.greenling.com
Elizabeth Winslow and her staff have been so welcoming to us! Rio's salads have been featured in their homestead box, and our three all-natural Brazilian Malagueta sauces are available for purchase and delivery on their Web site.
Whip In - www.whipin.com
Dipak Topiwala has graciously included Rio's products to his amazing variety of delights. Whip In continues to delight Austin with it's impressive selection of beer, wine, snacks, and cigars; super-friendly and knowleadgable staff; and their new Parlour Cafe, now serving awesome food every day until midnight.
Our products are in the first refrigerator by the register, next to Nikki's Med Chef products.
Emerald City Press - www.emeraldcitypress.com
Emily, Shanti and all the other amazing members of the Emerald City Press crew have been huge supporters of our products. We can't thank them enough! Please pass by and enjoy one of Rio's savory pastries and Brazilian Malagueta sauce as you check out their publications, floral selection and other local foods and beverages available.
